Volleyball Rules

Let us give you detailed information about the basic rules of volleyball. Volleyball is a game played between two teams and is played on a court separated by two high nets. The aim of the game is to pass the ball into the opponent's court and knock it down in their court. Here are the basic rules of volleyball:

Playing Area: The volleyball court is 18 meters long and 9 meters wide. There is a net on the field and the height of this net is 2.43 meters for men and 2.24 meters for women.

Teams: Each team consists of 6 players. Players of a team take different positions on the field. The number of players of the teams, the right to substitute and other rules may vary depending on the different leagues of volleyball at international and national level.

Service: The game starts with a player's service. In services made from behind the service line, the ball is attempted to be passed to the opponent's court. The server must have his feet on or behind the service line when hitting the ball.

Crossing the Net: With each shot, players try to pass the ball over the net. The ball must pass into the opponent's court without hitting the net. If the ball touches the net and falls on the opponent's court, the team wins the point.

Game Continuation: Both teams take an active role in the game to intervene in the ball and prevent the opponent from dropping the ball. Players undertake different tasks such as kicking the ball (spike), blocking (preventing the opponent's shot), defending and fast attack.

Winning Points: A team wins the game when it first scores a certain score or wins a certain number of sets. While the team that scores 25 points in an international volleyball match usually wins the game, games may need to be won by at least two margins.

Substitutions: Substitutions in volleyball are limited and usually subject to certain rotation rules. Referees must be informed during player changes.

Referees: There are referees who manage volleyball matches. These may include the referee, linesmen and scorekeepers. Referees monitor compliance with the rules of the game and award points.

Sportsmanship: Volleyball attaches great importance to athlete and team behavior. The concepts of fair play and sportsmanship are one of the cornerstones of volleyball. Players are expected to be respectful to their opponents and referees.

These basic rules form the outline of volleyball. Volleyball is a competitive game that requires speed, skill and tactics and can be played at many different levels. More complex rules and playing strategies become more important in international professional volleyball matches.
